South Arkansas Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine (SAOSM) is Arkansas’ premier orthopaedic and sports medicine center. The center was founded by orthopaedic surgeons, C. Dwayne Daniels, M.D., Kenneth G. Gati, M.D. and Gregg L. Massanelli, M.D. The native Arkansans fulfilled their dream of establishing a first-rate orthopaedic and sports medicine center in the heart of south Arkansas bringing a support team of three orthopedic surgeons, an on-site  physical therapy center and a team of medical and technical assistants.

C. Dwayne Daniels M.D.

C. Dwayne Daniels, M.D.

Dr. Daniels has over 20 years of experience in orthopedic surgery.  He is a general orthopaedic surgeon addressing a variety of orthopaedic problems, concentrating on shoulders, knees, hips and sports injuries.  He specializes in joint replacement procedures, as well as minimally invasive arthroscopic surgeries for the knee, hip and shoulder. 

A native of El Dorado, Arkansas, Daniels graduated from El Dorado High School in 1983. Dr. Daniels earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1991. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at UAMS in 1996. After completing his residency he returned to his home town to practice medicine.  He has been in practice at South Arkansas Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in ElDorado since 1996.

Dr. Daniels travels to clinics outside of El Dorado to give smaller communities an opportunity to receive orthopaedic care.  He has served as team physician for several high schools.

In addition to being Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Daniels enjoys these professional memberships: fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, and Arkansas Medical Society. Dr. Daniels currently serves as QAPI Chair for the South Arkansas Surgery Center. He also serves as President of the Board of Directors at South Arkansas Arts Center. Dr. Daniels served in the U.S. Army National Guard Medical Corps and was deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom 2 in 2004 and Kosovo Force 7 in 2006. He retired in December 2007 as Lt Colonel. Dr. Daniels is married to Camille, and they have four children.

Kenneth G. Gati, M.D.

Kenneth G. Gati, M.D.

Dr. Gati has over 17 years of experience in orthopaedic surgery.  In specializes in general orthopaedic surgery.  Dr. Gati treats all types of orthopaedic conditions, concentrating on knees, hips, shoulders and sports related injuries.  He specializes in total joint replacements, as well as minimally invasive arthroscopic surgeries for the knee, hip and shoulder.

A Louisiana native, Dr. Gati attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. After receiving his medical degree from the LSU school of Medicine in 1995, he continued on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at UAMS in Little Rock. After completing his residency he moved to ElDorado and joined the practice of South Arkansas Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine as a partner. He has remained here in El Dorado since that time.  Dr. Gati not only treats patients in ElDorado, but also travels to Magnolia to see patients weekly in his orthopaedic clinic at Magnolia Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Gati is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a member of the Arkansas Medical Society, Southern Medical Association and Alpha Omega Alpha.  In addition, he is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Gati currently serves on the Board of Directors of South Arkansas Surgery Center, as Team Physician for Southern Arkansas University and is an Adjunct Faculty for UAMS. Dr Gati spends many weekends traveling as a National Swim Official.

Gregg L. Massanelli, M.D.

Gregg L. Massanelli, M.D.

Dr. Massanelli has over 19 years of experience in orthopaedic surgery.  He is a general orthopaedic surgeon.  Dr. Massanelli performs joint replacements of the knee, hip and shoulder.  He also specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgeries for the knee, hip and shoulder and sports related injuries.

A native of Hot Springs, Dr. Massanelli attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1993, he went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at UAMS as well.  After residency he moved to ElDorado to become a partner with South Arkansas Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. He has continued to practice here since 1998.  Dr. Massanelli also travels to Monticello each week for an orthopaedic clinic at Drew Memorial Hospital. 

Dr. Massanelli is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a member of the Arkansas Medical Society, Arthroscopy Association of North America and Alpha Omega Alpha and the Southern Medical Association. In addition, he is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Massanelli currently serves as the Medical Director of South Arkansas Surgery Center, Medical Director for Southern Arkansas University, Team Physician for Southern Arkansas University, Adjunct Faculty for UAMS and sits on the Ortho Advisory Board for Amsurg.
